Dr. Jennifer Thatcher attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she studied Computer Engineering. She worked as a systems and software engineer for several years, but eventually followed a calling into the health care field. She pursued a Doctorate of Optometry at the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry (UCBSO). As part of her clinical curriculum, Dr. Thatcher received specialty training in the management of dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma at VA clinics, senior and community clinics, and UCBSO clinics in California. Dr. Thatcher is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.
Although California offered beautiful sunny skies and picturesque views, Dr. Thatcher is excited to be back in her home state of Ohio and being a part of the healthcare community where she grew up. She enjoys singing, dabbling in piano and guitar, volleyball, Zumba, and dancing.
Dr. Thatcher enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. Her youngest son was born Deaf and with Down Syndrome. She has a special interest in Down Syndrome and in Deaf culture. She continually improving her knowledge and fluency of American Sign Language. She enjoys working with young children, especially those with special needs.
